Important Festivals Celebrated at Saibaba Temple:
1. Ram Navami:
It is celebrated in March or April at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple. The holiday is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm. According to a tale, Gopalrao Gund suggested in 1897 to host a Sai Baba-specific Urus (a Muslim festival honoring a saint) as a way of saying thank you for fulfilling his child’s request so long ago. Sai Baba accepted, but he insisted that they observe it on Ram Navami. As a result, there is interfaith cooperation on this day as both Hindus and Muslims joyfully commemorate the event. On this day, the wheat bag that is stored there and the flags of Dwarkamai are replaced.
2. Guru Purnima:
In Shirdi, the Guru Purnima is observed with great respect and devotion on the full moon day of July. The day is devoted to the Guru, and special poojas are held in his honour and in order to obtain his blessings. The epic Mahabharata’s author Ved Vyasa is honoured with a pooja known as Vyasa.
3. Vijayadashami:
It is also said that Shri Sai Baba transitioned from the mortal world to his heavenly abode on the day of Vijayadashami. Another name for this day is Shri Sai Punyathithi. With Guru Dakshina, “Brahman Bhojan” is organized at this event (Donation to Guru). To honor Shri Sai Baba, pilgrims from all around India travel to Shirdi.
